Ch-ch-ch-changes

First of all, let me apologize for again not posting.  I had a post-delivery  medical set back that left me unable to do much but lie in bed for two days.  I am getting better and should be able to continue posting now…I know, big sigh of relief, right?  You must be so excited.

So, can you believe that the boy in the foreground of this picture is my little two and a half year old Carlitos Eli?!? I swear that in the 15 hours we were at the hospital he must have grown at least 2 inches, pounds and years!  I can understand the weight part (even though I am blown away by the fact that he did actually put on at least a pound in that amount of time -all joking aside). I mean, he had four grandparents feeding him anything and everything he wanted.  But I swear he also just seems bigger and older.   Also, in the last week he has gone from being able to communicate effectively in both languages (English and Spanish) to communicating almost fluently in both.

My mind keeps flashing to this morning about three months ago when my husband, Carlitos and I went out to breakfast. Carlitos was acting more grown up than usual and my husband looked at me and said “You know that when his baby brother is born he is going to really become a big boy.”  I started crying right there in the restaurant. And now here we are, three months later, and I swear it’s true: the moment John Xavier was born Carlitos Eli not only became a ‘Big Brother,’ he became a ‘Big boy.’  Part of me is heartbroken that my baby boy is growing up so quickly and yet, I am also so proud.

Okay, not a very humorous post, but that’s hormones for ya.  I could tell a knock knock joke if you’d like?
